Camp Blanding Commander Speaks to Clay Leaders

Commander Colonel Frank A. Zenko from Camp Blanding Joint Training Center spoke to a group of Clay County Leaders at the 4th quarter luncheon for the Clay County Economic Development. Zenco outlined the benefits of Camp Blanding and the millions of dollars represented by the more than 450,000 incoming individuals that visit to the camp during a calendar year for training of several various natures.

Rep. Ted Yoho Announces New VA Clinic in Clay County

Representative Ted Yoho announced Wednesday morning the award of a lease on a new VA clinic in Middleburg. The new primary care facility will be located at 400 College Drive in Middleburg. Services will include primary care, mental health services, lab draws and select specialty care via telehealth. Once online, the clinic is projected to attract approximately 4,500 new Veterans and serve more than 11,000 Veteran enrollees in the following years. The awarded lease has an initial contract for a 10-year lease. Construction timeline and activation schedules will be determined in post award design meetings that Congressman Yoho will take part in.

Camp Blanding Named Top in the U.S. for Conservation

Camp Blanding Joint Training Center was named the top military installation for conservation in the country. Camp Blanding Joint Training Center received the 2018 Military Conservation Partner Award, which is given annually by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to the military installation that has done outstanding work to promote conservation on military lands. Camp Blanding was recognized for their work in conserving and rehabilitating the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker.

The Clay County Economic Development Corporation received an $89,000 Defense Reinvestment Grant to aggressively strengthen and diversify the non-defense economy while promoting the area’s military training operations at the Camp Blanding JTC and NAS Jacksonville.
