HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital’s new patient tower is moving toward completion.  Four of its five floors are open and the second floor will open in June, the hospital announced May 31. The third floor is the most recent to open at the 2001 Kingsley Ave. facility, adding 24 private rooms for medical and surgical patients.  The second floor is expected to open in June and will provide another 24 private patient beds, according a news release.  Once fully operational, the facility will have 96 inpatient beds.

The patient tower is part of a $126 million expansion project.  Charles Perry Partners Inc. of Jacksonville is the contractor.  TMPartners PLLC, headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee, with a Florida office in Lakewood Ranch, is the architect.

The fourth and fifth floors each have 24 private rooms. The first floor includes patient registration and outpatient testing and imaging services.

The patient tower, which opened in 2021, created more than 100 jobs, the hospital said in the release.

“Like many in our area, we’re feeling the effects of the growth happening in Clay County,” said Lisa Valentine, CEO at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital.

“With this growth comes the need to expand our team, our facility and our services to continue to rise to the needs of our community.”

The rooms are equipped to provide patient comfort and care, the release said.

Patients can contact nurses via iPhone. There is access to high-speed internet and Apple TV in each room. The televisions can also be used by doctors and staff to share medical results, diagnostic tests and other information with the patient.

The new rooms have digital medical charting equipment. Electronic dashboards provide patient information about lab results, treatment and surgery details. A tracking system monitors patient activity and identifies and logs each caregiver entering the room and tracks medical equipment.
