ORANGE PARK – Orange Park Medical Center plans to hire 80 nurses over the next four months, to grow their frontline team. These jobs come as the economic downturn associated with the pandemic was sudden and all-encompassing for Clay County families. For the past 20 weeks, more than one million people each week have filed for unemployment in the U.S. In Florida, the overall unemployment rate in June was 10.4%, with Clay County at 6.8%.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Orange Park Medical Center has avoided layoffs and furloughing its full-time workforce. And now, the hospital is hiring for nurses, technicians and other front-line positions. As part of this initiative, 80 full-time and part-time Registered Nurse positions are available with benefits and competitive pay.

“This pandemic has brought with it [an] unprecedented economic challenges for our county, our neighborhoods and our families,” said Connie Thomas, Orange Park’s Former Mayor and candidate for Clay County Commissioner for District 3. “It’s great to see our local businesses focusing on the future and providing jobs that will provide our residents some stability in a time of constant change.”

The hospital will be hosting hiring events in August and September. Those interested in applying to join the Orange Park Medical Center team are encouraged to visit the careers section of OrangeParkMedical.com for the latest information on hiring events and open positions.

“We are looking to fill a variety of positions within nursing, respiratory therapy, social workers, and more. Other departments are also looking to restore to pre-pandemic staffing levels,” says Brad Coburn, Vice President of Human Resources at Orange Park Medical Center. “We are looking to recruit high-quality candidates through a variety of job fairs, virtual hiring events, and in-person interviews.”
